Mark Hyde Harrison
NAPF Chairman

Mark Hyde Harrison is Chairman of the NAPF.  He has served on the NAPF Investment Council since 2006 and joined the NAPF Board in 2009.

He lives in Kent with his wife and three daughters.

Lesley Williams
Whitbread

Retirement Policy Council Vice Chairman

Lesley Williams is Group Pensions Director at Whitbread, with responsibility for Corporate pensions strategy and to the Trustee Company for the operation of the Pension Fund and its investments. The Whitbread pension fund has a closed DB and open DC section. Lesley has worked in the pensions industry for over 20 years, with previous positions in Gateway Foodmarkets, Abbey National, the Pearl Group and Head of Pensions with the Henderson Group.

She is an Associate of the PMI and has an MBA.

Stephen Kober
Director of Operations, NAPF

Stephen joined NAPF in 2005 as Director of Operations responsible for Finance, IT and general administration. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in the City and then spent 2 years with KPMG before leaving the profession to work in manufacturing industry.

He was the Finance Director of a subsidiary group within Associated British Foods plc and Group Finance and IT Director of a private speciality metals group with subsidiaries in the UK, Norway, Poland and a minority stake in Spain. He was chairman of the trustees of this group's pension scheme.

Martin Mannion
GSK

Chairman, Investment Council
Martin is the Director of Finance and Risk for the GSK UK Pension Schemes and Secretary to the Trustee for the GSK Common Investment Fund.  The UK pension schemes have combined assets of £7bn and a total membership of 82,000. Martin is a UK Chartered Accountant. His role covers risk management, vendor management, trustee financial reporting, tax and regulatory compliance.  Martin is actively involved in a number of industry initiatives including the NAPF working group on the revision of IAS19 and the ICAEW AAF01/06 Committee. He is Chairman of the T-Charter.

Martin is a regular speaker at industry events on topics such as defined contribution provision and custody.

Joy Moore
RWE npower

Retirement Policy Council Representative

Joy Moore has held the post  of Head of Pensions at RWE npower since January 2002. She has responsibility for developing strategy and policy for the company as well as providing secretariat and compliance services to the trustees. The main pension scheme at RWE npower has assets of £3.6bn and a membership in excess of 40,000.

Between 1992 and 2002 Joy was employed by BBC pensions and prior to that, by British Coal Staff Superannuation Scheme.

Michael O'Brien
J.P. Morgan

Vice Chairman, Investment Council

Mike J O'Brien, Managing Director,  is the global head of J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s Institutional Client Group, based in London. An employee since 2010, he is responsible for overseeing the firm's institutional client business and is a member of the JPMorgan Chase & Co. Executive Committee and the Asset Management Division Operating Committee. Previously he worked at BlackRock where he was head of Institutional Business for Europe, the Middle East & Africa. During his decade-long tenure at BlackRock, he led a team of institutional client advisors responsible for some of the firm's largest clients located across 12 regional markets. Prior to that, Mike worked at Towers Perrin for 14 years where he oversaw their UK and European investment consulting practice, managing all aspects of pension planning financial management, and developing new products and service offerings, such as pension financial risk modelling for UK and US corporations.

Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics from Limerick University in Ireland. He is an Actuary (FIA) and a CFA Charterholder.

Darren Philp
Darren Philp
Director of Policy, NAPF

Darren joined the National Association of Pension Funds as its Director of Policy in November 2010, where he leads the NAPF's policy development activities.

Darren joined the NAPF from HM Treasury, where he worked for almost 13 years.  Most recently Darren was head of HM Treasury's Pensions and Pensioners team where his responsibilities included state pensions, NEST and auto-enrolment, pensions tax and pensions regulation.  Prior to this, Darren worked in a range of areas at HM Treasury including general insurance, European policy, and macroeconomic briefing.

Darren studied economics as an undergraduate at Leicester University and has a Masters degree in econometrics from Southampton University.

Joanne Segars
Joanne Segars
Chief Executive, NAPF

Joanne became the Chief Executive of the NAPF in October 2006 having joined the organisation in 2005 as Director of Policy. Before joining the NAPF she was Head of Pensions and Savings at the Association of British Insurers from 2001 to 2005. Joanne held the pensions brief at the Trades Union Congress for 13 years and started her career in pensions as a researcher and journalist for Incomes Data Services.

Joanne has a degree in economics from John Moores University , Liverpool, and a Master of Arts degree in industrial relations from the University of Warwick .

Joanne is a founding governor of the Pensions Policy Institute and sits on its Council. She is also a Director of TUC Stakeholder Trustees Ltd. From 1996 to 2003 Joanne was a member of the board of OPRA.

Joanne was awarded an OBE for services to the pensions industry in the 2003 Queen's Birthday Honours.

Ruston Smith
Tesco

Retirement Policy Council Chairman

Ruston joined Tesco as Group Pensions Director in December 2002. In this role he is accountable for the running of the group's schemes including the investment of the UK Pension Scheme's £5bn assets and the administration of benefits for over 285,000 members. He is also accountable for the strategic development of the Pensions Policy of Tesco on a global basis. In May 2007, Ruston also became Director of Group Insurable Risk responsible for group insurance and risk financing.

Before joining Tesco Ruston was a Director & Company Secretary at PZ Cussons. He has an MBA from Manchester and is an Associate of the Pensions Management Institute and a Fellow of the Institute of Management.

Lindsay Tomlinson
NAPF Immediate Past Chairman

Lindsay has recently retired from BlackRock where he held the position of Managing Director since 2009. He is a Cambridge University mathematics graduate. After leaving university he worked as a pensions actuary and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.He moved into the investment world in 1981, joined BGI in 1987 and held a range of senior management roles at the company over more than 20 years. 

Lindsay was NAPF Chairman from 2009 - 2011. In addition Lindsay is Director of the Financial Reporting Council and Chairman of the Code Committee of the Takeover Panel. In 2005 Lindsay was awarded the OBE for services to the fund management industry.

Dan Torjussen-Proctor
Business Development Director, NAPF

Dan joined the NAPF in May 2011 where he leads on the commercial activities of NAPF. After a career in magazine publishing and then marketing consultancy Dan spent 5 years at City & Guilds leading on Publishing, and then new product and new market development. Immediately prior to joining NAPF Dan held an interim role at the charity Nacro where he led Business Development and a significant organisational change programme.

Dan has a joint degree in Management Studies and Psychology from Cardiff University.
