The Investment Council is responsible for developing NAPF's positions on investment
policy (including corporate governance) with the aim of seeking as liberal, well
regulated and cost effective investment regime as possible for trustees and employers.
For example it has recently overseen the report produced for HMT entitled - Institutional
Investment in the UK: six years on - in relation to reviewing and updating the Myners
Principles. Help was also offered in another report aimed at assessing investment
consultant's performance which includes some assessment tools. Proposed changes in
accounting for pensions by companies is another area of work for the Council.
