Who we represent
The NAPF is the voice of workplace pensions, whether the workplace is in the public or private sector. Our 1,200 pension scheme members include large and small funds as well as defined benefit (DB) and defined contribution (DC) pension schemes in both the private and public sectors. We represent approximately three quarters of the 99 funds which make up the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). This mixed membership gives us a unique insight into public sector pensions.
What we do
The aim of the NAPF is to encourage an environment where people can save for their retirement through the workplace. Because the LGPS is a funded scheme, it shares many similarities to funded private sector pension schemes. NAPF’s expertise in governance, investment and administration means we are well placed to promote debate on innovation and best practice.
The NAPF also has a close working relationship with Government departments, the EU and pensions regulators which means that we are aware of policy developments which affects both private and public sector pensions and are able to influence policymakers.
We also provide Pension Briefing Notes on best practice in the public and private sectors or recent policy developments which are applicable to the LGPS.
Events for Local Authorities
The NAPF holds a number of annual events specifically designed for our Local Authority members featuring top speakers from across the Local Authority world such as Lord Hutton, Terry Crossley from CLG and Ronnie Bowie from Hymans Robertson.
Our annual Local Authority Conference is held in May and is the leading conference for those involved in Local Authority pensions. We also hold a Local Authority forum every November.
