Trustees of workplace DB schemes who already have a good understanding of the principles of trusteeship and investment in a workplace DB pension arrangement.  Ideal for those who have completed both an ‘Introduction to trusteeship’ and ‘Introduction to investments’

Are you a trustee of a mature DB scheme or do you manage a legacy DB arrangement?  Assets and liabilities in DB schemes aims to develop your ability to contribute effectively to your trustee board’s discussions and decision making.  Focusing on the factors which are important when your trustee board is developing an investment strategy this Level 3, 1 day course, explains real investment and funding issues for DB trustees and sends you home with a toolbox of reference material and actions which you can use in practice.

After this workshop attendees will be able to

  • List the principles involved when selecting an investment strategy for a DB scheme.
  • Describe the issues which may influence a strategy which aims to match assets to liabilities.   
  • Define the key factors which generally influence funding and investment strategy.
  • Explain the principles, decisions and processes generally adopted when setting investment strategy in a DB scheme.
  • Assemble checklists which identify the actions trustees might take when developing a trustee investment strategy in a DB scheme.
