Introduction

Welcome to the NAPF Thames Valley Group.

As our third season of providing events for those directly involved in the provision of pension benefits for employees gets underway, we have sought to put together a programme of late afternoon seminars with a range of speakers covering as many aspects of the day to day maintenance of pension schemes as possible. It would be impossible to cover the full range of topics absolutely or indeed to cover the selected topics in the depth that many warrant, however our aim has been to find leading speakers who can cover topical issues and are known for their expertise in the industry . It is intended that attendance at meetings will not only improve participants' knowledge, but also foster an opportunity to meet with fellow pensions professionals and gain support through exchange of knowledge and expertise.

The year will undoubtedly see continuing developments from legislators and regulators, on top of absorbing the impact of the existing changes brought through successive Finance Acts, Pension Acts, Employment Laws, new accounting statements, etc.

Demands for continuous improvement in the education and training of trustees, administrators and advisors are not going to stop. We hope that members will contribute to the process and help the committee in identifying topics of interest so that our programme can be interesting, topical and above all practical.

The Group will, like other local groups, aim to provide feedback to the central body of the NAPF, to assist them in focusing their representations to Government and others, based on the wishes of group members. We will be attending several meetings this year with the NAPF on your behalf, and will be pleased to raise any issues of concern to you.
