Published at the end of
each year the NAPF Annual Survey provides a unique source of statistics
on the benefit structures of occupational pension schemes in the
UK. It is based on a broad sample of NAPF member funds, which provide
pension benefits to over 8 million scheme members and over 3 million
pensioners.
With the Government promising
its proposals in response to The Pensions Commission report early
next year, now is the ideal time to take stock of the state of Britain's
workplace pensions.Â
The 2005 NAPF Annual Survey
covers more than 1,100 pension schemes, more than £370 billion
of pension scheme assets, and more than 9 million scheme members.
Together, employers completing the survey employ some 3.5 million
people.
This year's Survey is being
published in four parts. The first volume looks at: the schemes
companies run; the changes they have made in the past year and expect
to make in the future; their attitudes to pensions; the design of
open DB schemes and the legacy of closed DB schemes; scheme governance;
and schemes' running costs. Subsequent volumes address DC pensions,
age issues and the investment decisions of DB schemes.
The Survey provides the most authoritative and comprehensive source
of information on the occupational pensions industry.
The complete Annual
Survey (with all the tables) will be published at the start of December
2005. All those members who participated
in the survey will receive a free electronic copy.
